Dogs don't generalize well. A dog that sits beautifully in a training facility will still bolt out your front door, because to them those are two different worlds. In-home training removes the translation step. The door manners are taught at your door, the leash work happens on your sidewalk, the place command is built on your dog's actual bed with your actual family walking past. When the behavior is trained in context, it holds in context.

It also means Henry sees the whole picture — the layout of the house, where the crate is, how the kids interact with the dog, what the walk route looks like. Small changes in routine often fix half the problem before the second session, and those are things a facility trainer never gets to see.
