From there, Henry introduces triggers at a distance where your dog can still think, rewards the choice to look away and check in, and slowly closes the distance over sessions. This is desensitization and counter-conditioning paired with real obedience — the dog learns both that the trigger isn't a threat and exactly what to do instead of reacting.
